2nd. Encounter of Christian Movements for Europe |

“Together for Europe” II: Once again bishops, priests, religious and laity, Catholic, Orthodox and Protestant, met in Stuttgart. The encounter took place from 10-13 March with representatives from about 250 movements and new Christian communities. The days were filled with witnesses, homilies, songs and prayers, with great participation on the part of the public. The closing celebration was held in a packed sports stadium and well-known political and church leaders added their voice to the encounter. In all, it was another motivation for a “Europe, community of peoples”, aware of their mission of peace and solidarity in the world. Mario Berti was present on behalf of our Group and expressed our harmony with the ideals of communion among peoples and of the unity in diversity of all Christ’s disciples, at the service of the world. The longing for full unity is widespread. There were moving testimonies of the rediscovery of the Gospel in secularised areas of Europe. The ecumenism of the heart, which happens through these friendly encounters, is opening new paths for the future in the Church and for the world.
